OUR GREAT KITCHEN NEEDS A GREAT LEADER
Dalmore Farm is a busy, successful family-run farm shop and restaurant in the Highlands. Our 150-cover café/restaurant has an established kitchen team, and we're looking for the right person to take responsibility for leading it.
We are not necessarily looking for a traditional Head Chef.
We already have a strong core team. What we need is someone organised, capable and confident who can take ownership of the kitchen.
Someone who notices what needs to be done, makes decisions, sets clear standards and ensures things happen without constantly needing direction.
You may currently be a Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, Catering Manager or experienced Kitchen Supervisor looking for your next opportunity. Your leadership, attitude and initiative are every bit as important to us as your CV.
THE ROLE
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our kitchen, working alongside the team during service while ensuring the department is organised, prepared and operating to a consistently high standard.
This is a genuine management position. You will be trusted to lead your team, make decisions and take responsibility for your department, with support from the owners when required.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading and organising the kitchen team
- Working alongside the team during busy service
- Planning ahead and ensuring the kitchen is properly prepared
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness
- Supporting, developing and training team members
- Managing performance and maintaining standards
- Ensuring excellent food hygiene, HACCP and allergen procedures
- Managing stock levels, ordering and minimising waste
- Helping develop daily specials and improve our menus
- Working closely with our Front of House team
- Taking genuine ownership of the successful day-to-day operation of the kitchen
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience in a busy kitchen or catering environment is important, but you don't need to have followed a traditional Head Chef career path.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is a natural organiser and confident leader
- Has experience supervising or managing people
- Shows initiative and doesn't wait to be told what needs doing
- Remains calm and organised during a busy service
- Communicates clearly, fairly and respectfully
- Understands food hygiene and safe kitchen practices
- Is dependable, practical and willing to be hands-on
- Enjoys developing people and building a positive team
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards
- Wants to become an important part of a successful independent business
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can take ownership of a good kitchen team and help make it even better.
WHY DALMORE FARM?
We offer:
- Rate of pay depending on experience
- Full-time, permanent employment
- Daytime working hours
- No evenings
- No split shifts
- No Sundays
- Christmas and New Year off
- An established and supportive kitchen team
- A successful and growing family business
- The autonomy to genuinely manage your own department
- Support from owners who want you to succeed in the role
This is an important appointment for our business, and we're prepared to take our time to find the right person.
If you're an experienced kitchen professional who enjoys leading people, takes pride in high standards and would like a management role with genuine responsibility and a better work-life balance, we'd really like to hear from you.
